Basic Refrigerator Pickles
Memories of my childhood come flooding back when the kitchen smells of dill, vinegar and vegetables.
Grandma always had a crock or two by the kitchen door in the stone room. My brother would snitch a gherkin or two on his way in or out of the house. The crock never had much left for canning at the end of the season. But they sure tasted good and now we know that fermented veggies like pickles, the dreaded sauerkraut and kimchi have probiotic benefits.
